SALE OF A SWALEDALE FARM.—At Barnard Castle on Wednesday, Mr Christopher Coates, of Darlington, offered for public competition Robson House Farm, situate at High Whitaside, Grinton, containing about 55 acres 3 roods 31 perches, tenant, Mr Henry Guy. Ninety stints or cattle gaits on Whitaside Moor were also offered with the lot. The first offer was £1,500 by Mr John Barker, and Mr John Wilson of Crossrigg, followed with £1,520 ; Mr Sewell, £1,540 ; Mr Close, £1,570 ; and Mr Bentham, £1,580 ; the offers by those gentlemen ultimately being run up to £1,850, at which sum the property was knocked down to Mr Barker, on behalf of Mr A. H. Charlesworth of Chapelthorpe Hall, near Wakefield. Messrs Richardson & Piper were solicitors for the vendors. |
