Metcalfe, Alice of Low Oxnop
 
This is the last Will and Testament of me Alice Metcalfe of Low Oxnop in the Parish of Grinton in the County of York Spinster First I direct the payment of all my just debts Funeral and Testamentary expences [sic] as soon as convenient after my decease

I appoint my Brothers in law William Westwick and Henry Whitle Executors of this my Will whom I direct to pay all my debts funeral and Testamentary Expenses aforesaid

I give and devise to my sister Margaret the wife of the said William Westwick my small copyhold Allotment in Thwaite side in the Manor of Muker in Swaledale now in the Occupation of James Calvert to and for her own absolute use and benefit

I give and devise to my Sister Phillis the Wife of the said Henry Whitle All that my one sixth individual share of and in the small Copyhold Farm consisting of two fields called West Intack and Cow Pasture And an Allotment on Muker side within the Manor of Muker aforesaid to and for her own absolute use and benefit

I also give and devise to my said Sister Phillis All those two undivided third parts of and in one undivided sixth part of and in the same premises to and for her own absolute use and benefit but subject to and charged with the payment of the Sum of Forty Pounds to my Brother Richard Metcalfe as and in such manner as my Said Executors may consider he stands in need of or requires the same for his maintenance and support

I also give and devise to my Sister Mary the Wife of William Peacock one other one undivided sixth share of and in the last mentioned premises to and for her own absolute use and benefit

I give and bequeath to my Brothers Thomas Metcalfe and John Metcalfe and my Sister Elizabeth the Wife of Robert Whitfield the Legacy or sum of Fifty Pounds each which I direct to be paid to them at the end of twelve Months next after my decease

And to my said Executors I give the sum of twelve Pounds for the purpose of Paying my funeral Expences [sic] And I nominate and appoint the said William Westwick and Henry Whitle joint Residuary Legatees under this my last Will and expressly charge them with the payment of all my just debts funeral and Testamentary Expences [sic] And I nominate and appoint the said William Westwick and Henry Whitle joint Residuary Legatees under this my will and expressly charge therewith this payment of all my just debts Funeral and Testamentary Expences [sic]

And lastly I hereby revoke all former and other Wills by me at any time heretofore made and declare this only to be and contain my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this first day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty nine

Signed published and declared by the said Alice Metcalfe the testatrix as and for her last Will and testament in the presence of us who at her request in her presence at one and the same time have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses the said Testatrix having made her mark and requested me the undersigned Thomas Spensley to write her name thereto the same having been first read over to the said Testatrix
