My mother, Jean Alderson, was brought up at Ghyll View Farm, Rash, in the 1920s. There is a photo of Rash on this site showing a man in front of the house carrying a gun. Could it be Jim Hutchinson, a gamekeeper, my grandfather's friend and next-door neighbour?

I have a picture of my grandfather, Charles Alderson, with a tup which was supposed to have won a prize at the Yorkshire Show circa 1929 and which then went on to sell at a record price. Has anyone any details?

Researching an earlier part of the family, Robert and Charles Alderson were born at Crackpot Hall (in 1811 & 1814) but lived at Low Frith, close by West Stonedale. Low Frith seems to be Frith Lodge now but a photo I found on the web appears to be of a later building. Has anyone any information? (Robert found some infamy when Richard Kearton, the wildlife writer, wrote of him as "the meanest creature I have ever known.")
