hi yes edward and anns children right,apart from rosamond it was there granddaughter.
hirds yes correct christopher and ellen or elleanor birkbeck hadquite a few children,hird family does not moved awayfrom area as been in area since 1600s i got back to i think 1670 will have to check

I did find in the 1881 census Jane E Hunter born 1859 Ripon living with
Edward (head) born Askrigg Occupation Blacksmith and Annie C Hunter. Town of Hutton Conyers also at the address were Elizabeth born 1870 Marton-le-Moor, Polly also born 1873 Marton-le-Moor and John Hunter (brother of Edward)born 1835 Askrigg occupation Labourer,Rosamond is listed as a grand daughter of Edward and Annie C Hunter.

hi wifey ,have'nt researched alot about rosamond , all i have is her born 1881 ,showing up on the 1881,1891 census w ith her grandparents, on the 1891 there is also a edward hunter hartley(grandson) this is sarah anns son she married a charles clifford hartley 1879. sarah ann in 1871 was at her mums sisters house(elizabeth pratt), now rosamond there are two options it is either sarah anns or jane e daughter which i don't no cannot find her after 1891 census ,but i have not been looking for her if you need anything else wifey let me now( i would love to find where anthony hunter ABOUT 1796 of askrigg was born, i have been through every yorkshire village on parish records nothing ,also john 1801 is exact father ( i now is father is john becuse he shows up on the 1841 ,aged 78 with is son (HEAD), but no birthplace ,so there is every possibility they might not be from the area), . i did find a john hunter who married a hannah buckle in grinton ,1764. hmmmmmmm i now could they have had a child first born called john would be about 1764 - 66, if you do now john s father 1801 would be grateful, i also think malcolm may at the moment be on a different tree line to us , but he may not be 1 or 2 more generations back

Hi Ste I found Sarah Ann and her husband Charles C Hartley on the 1881 census living at 85 Christopher St Leeds she was a milliner and he was a traveller and two years older than her. No kids listed though she was probably too tired from the long hours at work I'm trying to find any kids but at the moment it looks like Rosamond is Jane Ellen's daughter.

It looks like John Hunter was born 27 Sep 1800 in Hawes and it seem his mum was Dinah so may be worth trying the parish records for Hawes especially other baptisms. John Hunter senior I'm still trying to trace, can't find him in any Grinton records yet.

Updated, John Hunter and Dinah also had the following children:-

John baptised 21 June 1794 Hawes
Mary baptised 17 February 1796 Hawes
Alice baptised 20 April 1898 Hawes
Francis baptised 22 November 1802 Hawes.

This may tie in some other branches of the Hunter family.
