These photos of various Swaledale locations are from Gatis Staprēns.

Gatis lives in Riga, Latvia. In 2007 he worked in Darlington. Gatis is interested in history, archaeology and the history of traditional folk trade and crafts. In May 2007 he was acquainted with Tim Laurie, who has, for more than 30 years, investigated archaeological places in the Yorkshire Dales and Swaledale. Gatis went to Swaledale with Mr Laurie and spent a day walking around interesting historical places near Reeth .

Gatis is involved in a blacksmith business in the Ethnographic Open Air Museum of Latvia (http://www.etnostils.lv). He wanted go to Gunnerside to visit the Old Working Smithy and Museum and speak to the blacksmith, Stephen Calvert. Unfortunately things didn't work out as planned but he is still hoping to meet Stephen at some time.

Gatis wrote, "Certainly, each time when I will be in North Yorkshire, I will go to beautiful Swaledale and your small and interesting village Gunnerside."
