Hi everyone,
I have just joined and throughly enjoyed my journey around your site last night. A very well and informative site. Thank you. :)

Much to my delight I found my ancestor in the transcripts for the 1841 and 1851 C. :D

James father was George Parker (lead miner) b ab 1795 in Linton M to Mary ? b ab 1800 in Thornton Rust. Is anyone able to tell me what Marys maiden was and when and where they married. Or where I may find this information..

Ann Alderson (what a lot there are) was born in Bacup her father was Thomas Alderson Lead Miner. Residence at time of marriage was Rash. I would be grateful for any information on this family, as I haven't been able to identify them yet.

Thanking you in anticipation Sue

Mary ? Wife of George Parker

Postby Pauline » Sat Jul 05, 2008 11:51 am

Hi I have just started looking at my family tree and I am following my father's line to start with which is Cheetham. I found George Parker whose daughter married my great grandad Samuel Cheetham who married Sarah Prest Parker on 23rd Jan 1855 in Bradford. Therefore I am assuming that Sarah's mother was called Mary Prest who was born in 1803 in Thornton Rust. Early days yet not investigated when they got married. Hope this helps
Best wishes

Having done some research recently, have discovered that James Parker was my Great Great Grandfather.

His son Francis born 1869 was my Great Grandfather.

It seems over the years James and Ann(Nanny) Parker (Alderson) moved beetween Swaledale and Cliviger/Bacup/Burnley a number of times, work related.

My Grandad also James was born in Burnley 1908.

Francis lived to 91 and died in 1960 in Manchester.

Any info on Parker, Prest, Alderson would be appreciated.

Hi Nick, I have joined Genes Reunited and put my family tree on there, connected with a lady whose grandmother was Nanny Alderson, is that right cant remember without looking. All the dates and info are on the site. Have you thought of joining? My line is through Sarah Prest Parker who married Samuel Cheetham. My maiden name is Cheetham.

If you want a follow up with more info let me know
