Dorcas Eatch is a talented photographer who makes excellent use of Swaledale's landscape by running photography classes 'in the field'. Offering one day and weekend courses, she uses the River Swale to explore the technical issues of taking pictures of water, Swaledale's plentiful field barns to look at landscapes, and the beautiful hay meadows to focus on close-up flower photography as well as the importance of backgrounds.

With a firm focus on the benefits of digital photography she suggests that, as well as your DSLR camera, you bring your tripod and laptop, not forgetting waterproof clothing and stout walking shoes. Weekend courses can include residential accommodation in Keld, Upper Swaledale, and some day courses include afternoon tea in Muker's lovely little cafe.

Dorcas' photographs show that she enjoys Swaledale in all weathers and at all times of day. Her 'yes you can' attitude means that everybody who attends one of her courses will be inspired to make the best use of their camera to take some wonderful photographs. Day courses cost from £90 and weekends start at £180.
