Gunnerside Gill Walk

The walk up Gunnerside Gill is always popular but you have to be hardy to make the effort on a cold, icy day in early January. At least two photographers left comfort behind and ventured out with their cameras on the 10th January.

Hi, just a quick hello, I'm one of the photographers how ventured out into the frozen landscape of Gunnerside Gill on Saturday morning. My name is Gary Richardson and I live near to Darlington, so getting into Swaledale is very easy for me, about a 30/40 mins drives. I have to admit that we do tend to neglect the Dales and head over to the bigger stuff in the Lakes, we had planned last Saturday to go something in the Lakes but the weather forecast put us off a wee bit, so it was a last minute decision to do the walk along Gunnerside Gill. I'm really glad that we did though, as it was a magical walk, the snow and ice made it a bit tricky underfoot but the views in the gill more than made up for that.
now that I've found this great little site I will put details of any of our walks around the Gunnerside area for others to share.
Regards
Gary Richardson
