Parking for a large group

Hi there, a ride with a group of mountain bike riders who organise a large group ride on a monthly basis. We are looking at potentially having the next ride (at the back end of October) in Swaledale, and a route starting and ending in Gunnerside has been proposed.

The problem is that we sometimes get a fairly large turnout for these rides and so there could be up to 15-16 cars to find parking for and someone who has ridden in the area previously has suggested this may be a problem. Is there anywhere in or around the village that could accommodate this number of cars?

Also, does the village pub allow groups of riders, as we are generally all famished after a ride!!

Not sure if anyone replied privately to your enquiry but just in case you're still looking...

Gunnerside is a difficult place to park a lot of cars. The Kings Head is now under new management so it might be worth contacting them direct on 01748 886261 to see if they can handle a group of riders and to enquire if they could help with parking suggestions close to the village.

You're probably aware that the Dales Bike Centre at Fremington is now open. Perhaps you could use that as your base, ride over the hills to Gunnerside and beyond, call in at the Kings Head for refreshment on the way back and then, apart from the uphill bits, it's all downhill back to Fremington. I'm sure someone at the Bike Centre will be able to offer a more sensible suggestion.
