Beneath
lies interred all that was mortal of
Leonard COATES and Maria his wife
Maria died in Gunnerside October 10th 1822
aged 32 years
Leonard died in Arkindale where he was a mining agent
March 11th 1826 aged 40 years

They lived in amity and died in peace

This stone is placed here by their six surviving children to perpetuate the memory of their dearly beloved parents
