Sayer Photograph Album
(Information and photographs ©2007 Elaine Sayer)
Thomas Felix Sayer, his sister Doris
and brother Arthur Barningham Sayer were brought up at Summer Lodge.
Tom's parents were Thomas Sayer and Dorothy Raw (Daughter of Barningham
Raw) who moved from Redmire to Summer Lodge when their children were
very small. The Raw family were originally miners in Swaledale for many
generations.
Tom married Muriel Oxley who moved with her parents to Winterings when
she was a small child. Her father, Stephen Oxley farmed up there and
also was the postman for a few years - he died on his post round. Muriel's
brother Stephen and his wife Joyce also lived in Low Row before moving
to Sheffield.
The photos of Winterings are mainly of Muriel and her aunty, Bella Coxon
and cousin Evelyn Coxon.
The ones of Low Row are mainly of Tom and Doris Sayer when they were
children and pictures of their respective weddings.
Tom used to come to Low Row nearly every week from Bellerby to see Doris
and George (her son) until he died in 1995 aged 88 yrs and is buried
in Low Row. Muriel died in 2005 aged 92 yrs and is buried in Bellerby.
