Postcard from Ruth Dougill
|
|
Ruth Harker corresponded regularly
by postcard with another Ruth and she is probably Ruth Dougill,
a cousin on her mother's side, living in the White House in
Aysgarth. The 1901 Aysgarth census shows Ruth Dougill, aged
11, living with her parents George, age 52, and Mary A, age
51, and numerous siblings. Her father was a stone mason and
builder.

The following postcard in the collection
is addressed to Ruth Dougill at the White House.

Dear Ruth,
You will think I have forgot you altogether I have intended
sending you a PC. for weeks, but I have not got it off. Hannah
was down three weeks ago she said she had seen you at Bellerby.
We were at a social at Bedale last night we intend going to
another to-morrow night if the weather is anything like decent.
Much love Annie |
