This Ferrotype or tin-type photograph
may have a possible Gunnerside connection. The inscription on
the rear of the photo reads 'To Ralph Harker from William Garget
& your sister Mary'
This may be Mary Harker, born Gunnerside in 1821 and later appearing
in the 1870 and 1880 United States Census as living in Eldora,
Hardin, Iowa with husband William Garget and daughters Ruth
(age 12 in 1870) and Clara M (age 1 in 1870). Mary's younger
brother Ralph, born 1828, a farmer, lead miner and publican
lived variously in Ivelett, Muker and Calvert Houses. Further
