Letter to Sir George Denys Bart. 1866


This two page letter, dated 1866, sent on behalf of the Earl of Zetland, Lord Lieutenant of the North Riding of Yorkshire, to Sir George Denys, the Swaledale mining entrepreneur, of Draycott Hall, Reeth confirms Sir George's resignation from the North Riding of Yorkshire Rifle Volunteers.

The second page is a copied text from the Earl de Grey, Secretary of State for War confirming Queen Victoria's approval of the resignation.

Sir George Denys died 23rd February 1881.
